Farmyard kitten gives us the run around, help?

one of my neighbours kids did this too i spoke to them it never heped as they brought tuna /pilchards and things,and my cat never wanted to stay in.after 3 months he stayed there all the time so i let him go,but they had check to ask me 6 months later if i would worm and flea him as he was ill,i just said you deal with,it was hard letting go but i had no choice in the end,hope this does not happen to you
