Deciding on which hatchback to go for?

Hi, i want a diesel hatchback no older than 1999. I've become interested in the peugeot 206 and the renault clio 'bubble shape'. My budget is �2,000 max for now and was wondering which of the two i should go for and also any other recommendation will be welcomed, cheers
