Is an LCD screen going to give a better picture than my old Philips 32PW9527 CRT?

I replaced a 32 inch WS CRT TV with a 42 inch plasma variety. I am not aware of the picture being worse but the size (and fixing to a wall) gives the impression of far superior pictures. Picture definition will be far better than CRT when HD is used.
