Really bad knee sc...does this look ok? (pic)?
You should be fine. It does look a little infected but it would be easier to tell in person. If the area is really warm that is a sign of infection, also if the pus smells (sorry to be gross), or the redness is spreading those can be other clues to a worsening infection. At this point, you should be OK with home txt. I agree to wash the area, but avoid the hydrogen peroxide as it can be caustic to the tissues. Wash it with soap and water (be sure to wash your hands first). Then put on neosporin or another antiobiotic ointment. Keeping the wound open to area can help it heal, but be sure to keep it clean and dry, covering it when you think it may become soiled. If it does not show signs of healing (decrease in pain, swelling, and redness as well as scab formation) in the next week or so go see your doctor for a follow up. By all means if you are concerned and feel you should see a doctor now do so. Internet advice is often helpful, but is no substitute for actual medical advice in person.
